Dr. Georgi Stamenov

obstetrician - gynecologist

In an old fairy tale a crafty princess used to ask her suitors a riddle and those who could not give the correct answer lost their heads. “What is it that constantly fills a person’s heart?” The answer is “HOPE”.

My name is Georgi – no more than a messenger of HOPE.

It is a pleasure to meet you - Georgi Stamenov, born in 1970 on a frosty and snowy day in December, in the capital Sofia. I grew up there. My parents were engineers so I am not a hereditary doctor.  I did my secondary education in School No 7 in the capital. I was a grinder, had many excellent marks and read a lot. I was awarded a medal but I do not know where it is today. What remained from those days are my books and memories. It was then that I decided to become a doctor. I was admitted to university. Then I was conscripted.

The University of Medicine. In my second year I decided that I wanted to be a gynecologist and in my third year I changed to reproductive endocrinology. Throughout my university years I worked as a hospital attendant in the maternity ward of “Maternity Hospital”. These were very informative, cognitive and unforgettably enjoyable years.

I specialised in obstetrics and gynecology again there in “Maternity Hospital”. I learned in vitro in the centre of Dr. Iosif Dimitrov.

Seven years ago, on August 1st, 2005, we set up our little Shop for the Delivery of Hope and moved to the “Malinov” clinic. Time has passed so quickly but there are so many unforgettable emotions!

Married. Three daughters, a cat and a rabbit – both male.

So much for biography!

I love – my patients, my family, my friends, the high blue peaks, the vast blue sea, the rain, the winter, the sunrises, the sunsets, the smiles, watermelons, red wine, Ray Bradbury, Richard Bach, Philip Marlow, Winnie-the Pooh, the Little prince, Ostap Bender, dandelions and the wind. The morning smiles.

I dislike – treachery, meanness, spiteful laughter, broken wings, aggression, withered flowers, loud voices, sweet cabbage, satiation, black lightning, heat, insomnia, depressive literature and music – to name a few. Bad smell, bad cooking, bad speech.

Why should I always keep abreast of novelties in our profession?

There is no way of having everything good happening outside our small Bulgaria. We need to be better. I am convinced that we can because we show it all the time. We do our best to give people, who have trusted us, the best and the latest. We always add up our research to what we have learned elsewhere in the world. And most important of all – we should never forget that if we are to be good doctors, we must be good people and show enormous patience, personal consideration and love for everything we undertake...

Interests, hobby, leisure time:

Wow, I seem to have none...

I do not forget that:

• you cannot make someone love you. You can only be someone who can be loved. The rest depends on the other person.

• it takes a lot of time to become the person you would like to be.

• you should always part with the ones you love with endearing words. This could be the last time you see each other.

• we must forgive.

• it is darkest before dawn.

• I love you with all my heart

Why did I choose to work in “Nadezhda”?

Giving Hope is the essence of my life.
